Personally I think the agro zone is kinda, not 100% true. If I had to guess I'd say it was;
The circle that shows your aggro "bubble" is basically the guaranteed to aggro area. Meaning if something pops into this area, even just slightly on the edge, you are guaranteed to aggro it. So you obviously manuver this area/bubble around mobs.
Outside the circle, you can still manage to aggro things to you, but the chances are alot less than 100%. Think about it, you're on a flat ground area. Ahead of you say, 20 feet, are 3 mobs. These 3 mobs are outside your aggro "bubble" yet they are in plain eye sight, you can see them, they can see you, clearly. Personally I think they can just happen to look over and see you, get aggro, move in closer and as they get closer their aggro chances increase till they are aggroed.
Thats just my experinces, may be wrong.
